INDIAN SCHOOLS SHUT AFTER CORONA VIRUS OUTBREAK

As the Coronavirus outbreak spreads, fearing that schools and colleges may be a fertile breeding ground for spreading the virus, the government has to request to shut down all schools and colleges as a precautionary measure to contain the spread Covid-19. Several educational institutions across the nation have been asked to remain shut down indefinitely until further announcements, which can highly impact students’ academic growth since March-April is the exam season across India. There are new findings that show children are as easily infected as adults. We can assume that children mainly contract it from adults, but adults rarely catch it from children.

Last week, UNESCO announced that 13 countries have closed schools, affecting over 290 million children and has suggested that online learning platforms can help students access quality education remotely during times like these.

UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay said that, while temporary school closures as a result of health and other crises are not new, unfortunately, the global scale and speed of the current educational disruption is unparalleled and, if prolonged, could threaten the right to education.

When discussing measures like quarantine, school closures, and event cancellations, it is important to understand that these procedures are not enforced because the virus is extremely dangerous. In fact, many people who are not in at-risk groups can fight the infection. If the virus spreads to a large number of people, the healthcare system could become overloaded, making it harder for those with serious complications to get treatment.

PREVENTIVE MEASURES FOR CHILDREN FROM COVID 19

  • When visiting public places and using public transport,  make your kids wear a mask covering the mouth.
  • Make your kids wash their hands in regular intervals with soap and running water for 30 seconds.
